Greenhough Estate ‘Stone’s Throw’ Pinot Noir

Greenhough is a small organic producer based in the north-west of New Zealand’s South Island. For over 25 years they have been crafting authentic Nelson wines, with a style more reminiscent of the Loire than Marlborough Sauvignon. The wines have complexity and depth with an attractive elegance and persistance. Just 5% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, to round out the flavours and give a little creaminess without losing the freshness.

This has ripeness without too much alcohol, and measured use of oak barrels to allow the pure fruit to shine through. This has an elegance and depth reminiscent of red Burgundy and a lovely, perfumed complexity that belies its price. Lively aromas of ripe cherry and raspberry fruit. Good intensity on the palate with silky tannins, red berry fruits and a gentle spiciness that lingers nicely.
