Chateau La Patache, Pomerol
Add to favouritesChateau La Patache is a small, 2.5 hectare, estate within the Pomerol appellation. As would be expected Merlot is the main grape here making up around 85% of the final wine, with the balance being Cabernet Franc. The wine is full, flavoursome and ageworthy and deservedly well-liked by critics.
Here is what The Wine Advocate said for the 2019 vintage:
Yields were 39 hectoliters per hectare. The wine is being aged in French oak barrels, 30% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is redolent of stewed plums, baked blackberries and Black Forest cake with hints of bouquet garni, chargrilled meats and woodsmoke plus a waft of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy black fruits, framed by ripe rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a peppery kick. Around 1,000 cases will be made. Drink to 2030. 90-92 points.
