Toro de Piedra Gran Reserva Petit Verdot Cabernet Sauvignon
Add to favouritesViña Requingua was founded by Santiago Achurra Larrain in 1961 and working alongside several generations of his family they have grown the winery to be amongst Chile’s top 20 producers. Winemaking is led by Frenchman Benoit Fitte, who has overseen operations since 2001.
The Toro de Piedra label is used for their Gran Reserva wines with grapes sourced from vineyards located the Curicó region in central Chile, around 115 miles south of the capital, Santiago. Here cool breezes roll down from the Andes to the east and meltwater rivers contribute to varied and fertile soils in the valley, particularly favouring Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties.
This blend of Petit Bordeaux and Cabernet Sauvignon has been aged for 12 months in both French and American oak barriques. It has a deep garnet colour and intense aromatic notes of spices, black fruit, berries, minty chocolate and a smooth touch of vanilla. In the mouth it’s lush and silky, with a spicy character and a juicy palate that leaves a long finish.
An ideal food match for roasted meats, such as beef and lamb.
